| | Vista - Cant receive mail |

| | Cant receive mail I just installed the Windows Vista Beta and am enjoying it so far, aside from the problems i had trying to get on the internet (took me two days to fix!). well then, I had two outlook express identities on xp that used the road runner servers (time warner). When i open windows mail, which obviously replaced OE, I am not prompted for identities, which I now know no longer exist. I assumed that my identities were somehow merged, which i though was ok, i guess. I clicked the send/recieve button, and low and behold, the login box pops up, which it never did in OE. I entered my username and password for my main account, AND IT DOESNT WORK! the damn box keeps popping up a up and then fails. I cant get my mail now for some reason as it cannot access the server (error message: Account: 'pop-server.neo.rr.com', Server: 'pop-server.neo.rr.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR Authentication failed', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92). This occurs even though all the settings and profiles are correct. This is a very serious issue for me, and I need help immediatly, thanks in advance. |

| | very nice! I have exaclty the SAME problems when I want check my email. But only this problem when trying to receive emails. But I receive only this msg. when my mailbox has many emails with more then 1 or 2 MB (total). I tryied it on 4 diffrent email pop account, all the same problems with Windows Vista x84 and x64 build 6000 (Final version). And YES, this is a serious issue of Windows! I tried it with Windows Mail and Office Outlook 2003, same problem! I say it's a Windows Vista bug an not a Office Bug. |

| windows Vista Home Premium | Re: Cant receive mail I am encountering the same problem with my email. I can send mail but I can't receive mail. I keep getting this error message. The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the "I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider. The rejected e-mail address was xxxxxxx. Subject '', Account: xxxxxxxxx, Server: 'mail.xxxxxxxx.xxx', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 No such user (username) -ERR xxxxxxxxxxxxx Not Located', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC79 |

| | Re: Cant receive mail There are two reasons why I can't help you with what you've supplied. You say you can send, but can't receive. Yet the error message you included represents a failure to send. You've censored so much information from the error message that it is practically useless. As a minimum I would need to see the complete server name. Gary VanderMolen "J_S21" <J_S21.2xqyc1@xxxxxx-mx.forums.net> wrote in message news:J_S21.2xqyc1@xxxxxx-mx.forums.net... | windows Vista Home Premium | Re: Can't send mail My mistake, for I can receive mail but I can't send mail. Whenever I try to send mail I get the same message as I stated before. I did contact my ISP after I started to encounter the problem and was told that the problem was not coming from them. The message could not be sent. | | Re: Cant receive mail Do you get this same error regardless of which recipient you send to? What happens when you send an email to yourself? I take it that the SMTP server in question is not your ISP's mail server. Try substituting your ISP's SMTP server.
